Seminar Session I - Seminar Session II - Closing General Session

Seminar Session I (Choices 100-113)
8:00am - 9:30am

100. Why Do They Act the Way They Do and What Am I Supposed to Do About It?
(Repeat of 200.)
Peggy North Jones
Scientists in the Crib, Babies as Philosophers, Early Trauma Affecting Brain Development, Issues Impacting Attachment – our understanding of infants and toddlers has expanded and changed dramatically in the last decade as information about best practices and researched-based methodologies is passed down to those of us working in the field. But how do we integrate what is being discovered into the work we do everyday? How is our contact with children impacted by this valuable influx of information about the workings of the early brain and the critical nature of early social-emotional development? How do we acknowledge and respond to the trauma that so many children have been exposed to? And how do we help parents better understand this information? These important topics will be discussed and everyday applications will be presented.
